‘Bolivia teaches a dignity lesson,’ assures Venezuela’s FM

On Twitter, the head of Venezuelan diplomacy highlighted the capacity for mobilization and resistance of Bolivia’s popular sectors against the repression of the de facto government after the coup against Evo Morales in November 2019.

‘Having faced the most adverse conditions, the Bolivian people remained united and aware of their historic role. They achieved the unthinkable: in raids and in peace, they rescued their democracy, their future. They never gave up,’ the FM tweeted.

The MAS’ presidential dream ticket, made up of Luis Arce and David Choquehuanca, obtained a resounding victory in the first round in Bolivia’s general elections, at the conclusion of the official vote count by the country’s electoral authority.

The elected president obtained 55.10 percent of the valid votes, compared to 28.83 percentage points for his closest rival, the standard-bearer of the Citizen Community, Carlos Mesa, according to data released by the Plurinational Electoral Body.
