The usual concert on the occasion of the date had to be screened yesterday in the General Assembly hall to a small number of people due to the health crisis caused by Covid-19.

The United Nations Secretary General and the President of the General Assembly, Volkan Bozkir, agreed that the pandemic is the greatest challenge the UN has faced since its founding 75 years ago.

Next Saturday marks the United Nations Day, since October 24th marks the anniversary of the entry into force of the founding Charter of the UN, which was signed on June 26th, 1945 in San Francisco.

To this day, this is a reference document that guides the work of the organization, created after the end of World War II.

The date has been observed since 1948, and in 1971, the UN General Assembly recommended that it be considered as a holiday, in fact, it is common for diplomatic delegations to parade on that day with the typical costumes of their country and hold exhibitions with their traditional dishes.
