Russia announces restrictions due to mounting Covid-19 cases

Moscow, Oct 15 (Prensa Latina) Russia announced today new restrictive measures to curb the Covid-19 pandemic, which killed 286 people in one day, the highest number of deaths since March, whereas the total death toll reached 23,491.

Instead of closing bars, nightclubs and discos, as it happened in April and May, the capital’s mayor Sergey Sobyanin indicated that those institutions, if they want to work from 24:00 to 06:00, local time, must now request pre-registration by phone.

Sobyanin said that, at the entrance of these institutions, people must be identified by QR code or a text message previously sent.

When the number of positive cases in the past 24 hours amounted to 13,754, and the total number of cases reached 1,354,163 since the beginning of the pandemic, Russian authorities decided to sent a text message to people who had contact with an infected person.

On the other hand, the head of the epidemiological surveillance body of Russia, Anna Popova, said that a third national vaccine against Covid-19, manufactured at M.P.Chumakov Federal Scientific Center of Immunology, could be registered in November.

Yesterday, 8,392 patients were discharged, and the total number of discharges reached 1,048,097, which means a recovery rate of 77.4 percent.

Moscow’s mayor’s office reported 3,942 new positive cases in one day and 1,953 recoveries.
