Lavrov admits non-compliance with truce in Nagorno-Karabakh

Moscow, Oct 12 (Prensa Latina) Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on Monday admitted the non-compliance with the ceasefire recently agreed upon between Armenia and Azerbaijan in the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh.

During a meeting here with his Armenian peer, Zograb Mnatsakanian, who is on an official visit to Moscow, Lavrov acknowledge that the truce is far from being achieved fully, as combats, which started on September 27, continue.

On Saturday, the head of Russian diplomacy announced the implementation of a truce, starting at noon on that day, due to humanitarian reasons, after ten hours of mediations between Mnatsakanian and his Azeri counterpart, Dzheinuj Bairamov. The ceasefire was expected to be followed by a process of more substantial negotiations between Armenia and Azerbaijan with the mediation of the co-presidents (Russia, France and the United States) of the Minsk Group of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE).

The truce also included an exchange of prisoners and the recovery of the dead from the two countries in the battle field, but not even that item in the agreement was fulfilled, Russian television reported.
