Syria’s Homs province increases industrial facilities

Damascus, Oct 10 (Prensa Latina) With a value of over five million dollars, Syria's Homs province increased the number of industrial and artisanal facilities, according to sources in the sector on Saturday. Bassam Al Saeed, from the Industry Directorate of the region, noted that in total there are 140 centers, of which 40 work at full capacity and the rest partially because they are in the phase of completing the rehabilitation process.

Bassam Al Saeed, from the Industry Directorate of the region, noted that in total there are 140 centers, of which 40 work at full capacity and the rest partially because they are in the phase of completing the rehabilitation process.

The expert indicated that those facilities include food, chemical, textile and mechanical production, in both public and private sectors, and generate over a thousand job opportunities so far.

Homs, 162 kilometers north of Damascus, is the largest province in Syria with 42,223 square kilometers and a population of over two and a half million inhabitants.

The region is also an important industrial center; it has one of the two refineries in the country and vital gas and oil fields, in addition to a diversified agricultural production such as cotton and cereals, mainly.
