During Wednesday, the last period covered by the report, the number of infected with the disease amounted to one million 542 thousand 67, an increase of 8 thousand 108 compared to Tuesday, while deaths reached the sum of 37 thousand 100.

The report released last Tuesday says the infected surpassed the figure of 10,000 confirmed with the disease, according to the daily count of Prensa Latina.

In the last reported period, South Africa came off the list of the 10 countries with the highest number of infections, displaced by France, which amounted to 693 thousand 603 cases and 32 thousand 463 deaths.

Although the African statistics of sickness and deaths from the pandemic are moderate in relation to those shown by the rest of the planet, with the exception of Oceania, there is a plague whose effects materialize silently: unemployment.

Studies by various thinking tanks on the effects of the planetary spread of Covid-19 on economies estimate that up to 20 million jobs will be lost in Africa due to the recession caused by the disease.
