Covid-19 recoveries rise in Cuba

Havana, Oct 5 (Prensa Latina) The Cuban Ministry of Public Health informed on Monday that 87 patients were discharged from hospitals in the last few hours after recovering from Covid-19, so recoveries amount to 5,232 for 89.75 rate.

Laboratories made 7,334 PCR tests in real-time to detect the SARS-CoV-2 virus, 36 of them tested positive, Dr. Francisco Duran, national director of Epidemiology, said in his usual press briefing to update on the development of the pandemic in Cuba.

Of 36 cases, all Cubans, 17 are women and 19 are men, and 19 of them were asymptomatic when the PCR test was made, Duran said.

The specialist stated that the number of pediatric patients amounted to 648, and some 554 of them have already recovered.

Although Cuban children evolved favorably, their parents and guardians must take care of them because they are not exempt from contracting the virus, Duran said.

About 488 people are currently suffering from Covid-19 in Cuba, 487 of them are clinically stable.

Duran stressed that a person died in the last few hours, so the death toll rose to 123, while a person is seriously ill at an intensive care unit. Mortality rate is 2.10%

Covid-19 is not just any flu, it carries high lethality, so people must take all care possible to avoid getting infected. The people’s responsibility to face the pandemic must correspond to efforts the health system, the government and the Communist Party make, the epidemiologist stressed.
