Director of Mexico’s National Energy Control Center resigns

Mexico, Sep 24 (Prensa Latina) The general director of the National Center for Energy Control (Cenace), Alfonso Morcos Flores, presented his resignation and the replacement will take place today, according to the organization's sources.

They said that Morcos Flores’ resignation was presented to President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador several weeks ago.

The position will be held by Carlos Melendez, who until a few days ago was the Corporate Deputy Director of Strategy and Regulation of the Federal Commission of Electricity.

The Energy Secretariat incumbent, Rocio Nahle, has been in office for several weeks. The sources consulted commented that during the course of the day the former director will announce the reasons for his resignation to the position he held since December 1, 2018.

During Alfonso Marcos’ administration, the Agreement to Guarantee the Efficiency, Quality, Reliability, Continuity and Safety of the National Electric System was published, in the context of the Covid-19, which was criticized for supposedly going against renewable energies.
