Experts determined that it was a Katyusha projectile, and due to its trajectory, it was launched from the city of Abu Ghraib, 40 kilometers west of this capital. No casualties were reported.

The airport hosts a US military base and the Diplomatic Support Center of Baghdad, a branch of the US Embassy, which has been the target of several bombings.

Since the assassination of Iranian General Qassem Soleimani by the US aviation in Baghdad on January 3, attacks on Washington’s sites in Iraq are commonplace.
