The current figure of Covid-19 patients in the last 24 hours is significantly higher than the 3,222 infected on Tuesday, and is the highest peak after the end of the three-month confinement experienced by the Spanish population, which expired on June, 21.

That day, the government lifted the state of alarm decreed on March 14; counting out 246,272 Covid-19 cases with barely 141 patients notified in 24 hours.

Health authorities’ briefing adds another 6,462 more cases compared to those on Tuesday; therefore, the overall number goes from the 603,167 reported on Tuesday to 614,360 on Wednesday due to the delay in sending data from the different regions of the country.

Of those newly Covid-19 diagnosed, the autonomous community (region) of Madrid continues to account for the majority, with 1,854 (almost 40 percent of the total); followed by the Basque Country (429); Andalusia (327); and Castile and Leon, with 292 cases.

In its count on Wednesday, the Ministry of Health recorded 366 deaths in the last seven days, bringing the death toll to 30,243.

According to the official balance, in the span of a week 2,232 people were admitted in hospitals (141,603 since the pandemic broke out in Spain) and there were 154 admissions to intensive care units (ICU), for a global count of 12,904 patients.
