Citizens require food, plus contributions to meet their other basic needs, for which 1.444 billion dollars are required, according to reports from the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.

The spread of the coronavirus in the country had affected at least 330 thousand jobs until last July 7th, when the Ethiopian fiscal year 2019-2020 ended, although the epidemiological situation due to the pandemic did not reach tragic figures until last March and May.

The authorities hope to create around three million jobs during the 2020-2021 period, with the aim of reducing the unemployment rate, the cause and effect of more difficulties, but the spread of the disease hinders this management.

Ethiopia has documented 64,786 infections since March, the fourth highest figure among African countries, and of them currently 38,429 are receiving medical treatment, including 344 admitted to intensive care units.

The invasion of desert locusts formed a lethal tandem together with the infection for the survival of the inhabitants and the public treasury, despite the contribution of international organizations, because each one hinders the solution of the other.

According to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, the pests had destroyed more than 3.5 million quintals of agricultural products in April, and affected the already fragile food security of around 970 thousand people.
