Lebanon is about to reach 25,000 Covid-19 cases

Beirut, Sep 15 (Prensa Latina) Lebanon is about to exceed 25,000 Covid-19 cases on Tuesday, after reporting 544 in the last hours, including five deaths.

The number of infections stands at 24,857 and Covid-19 patients may exceed 500 in a day in the next few hours.

The death toll hit 246 since the first case was detected on February 21.

Some 6,230 PCR tests in real-time have been performed with a positivity rate of 12.8%, according to statistics from the Ministry of Health.

As a result of the August 4 explosions in the Beirut port, the Covid-19 cases have experienced a notable increase.

The explosion damaged 19 hospitals, four of them were taken out of service, while the flood of injuries overwhelms the possibility of medical attention.

Due to that explosion, the country reported 192 deaths, 7,000 injuries and some 300,000 people lost their homes and are currently spending the night in the residences of relatives or friends or are wandering around the streets.
