Supported by tribal and popular militias, Syrian regulars began to comb the desert areas in the administrative boundaries between the provinces of Raqa, Hama and Aleppo, broadcast by the local television station Al-Khabar.

The purpose, the officials say, is to clear that area of the remnants of the Daesh who have been attacking Syrian army points and local communities, killing civilians and looting their livestock.

They added that the extremists use all-terrain vehicles equipped with medium machine guns and move around on motorcycles making sporadic attacks taking advantage of the rocky and mountainous geography of the area.

After violent clashes, the army entered the towns of Murejeb Al-Jumlan and Rassem Abu Mayal, as well as combing the villages of Jeb Abuyad, Shajatieh, Tawal Al-Kaissum and Rassem Shaibah.

The Syrian government disseminated confessions of several captured terrorists who admitted receiving support from the US occupation forces to carry out attacks to wear the Syrian army down, sabotage hydrocarbon facilities and prolong instability in the area.
