‘Thirty-six years after his (birth), we revolutionaries who find hope in the necessary song of Ali, assume his revolutionary idea, in a struggle to make humanity more humane. To say Ali is to say People,’ the president Tweeted.

Ali Primera was born on October 31, 1941, in the town of Coro, state of Falcon, and died on the night of February 16, 1985, in a car crash on the Valle-Coche highway in Caracas.

At the initiative of the leader of the Bolivarian Revolution and then-President Hugo Chavez (1954-2013), the Government decreed in 2005 that his music is Venezuela’s Cultural Heritage.

Primera’s compositions conveyed the suffering of the people worn out by poverty and social inequality, for which he quickly won the hearts of others and became the People’s Singer.

In 1972 in Germany, he recorded his first album, entitled De una vez (‘At Once’), which included emblematic songs such as Techos de carton (‘Cardboard Roofs’), Yo no sé filosofar (‘I can’t Philosophize’), El despertar de la historia (‘The Awakening of History’), No basta rezar (‘Praying is not Enough’), among others.
