Peruvian and Colombian artists join voices for women’s empowerment

Lima, Feb 19 (Prensa Latina) Three artists from Peru and Colombia joined their voices to launch a cry for women's empowerment, which is on Friday disclosed on social networks as a song and video clip with the title 'Mujer montaña' (Mountain Woman).

The experienced Susana Baca and the young Wendy Sulca and Marie Cherry star in the musical message that uses rap and reggaeton sounds and urban and electronic rhythms to show their Afro-Peruvian and Andean roots.

The song, published on the YouTube channel of the non-governmental ‘Vivir sin miedo’ (Living Fearless) organization, gives voice to the Peruvian communication campaign that seeks to promote the modification of sociocultural patterns of violence.

According to its creators, it is a song against gender inequality, in favor of female empowerment and a call to fight against the numerous incidents of violence and abuse in that country.

It is a song encouraging women to raise their voices, to defend their rights and to love themselves. We hope it inspires them not to remain silent and to speak out. The cry of one woman belongs to all of us,’ Sulca assured.

She also affirmed that this is a very visible practice in the world of art and entertainment, especially in the music industry where the role of women is often belittled just because they are women.
