‘We are working with the Russian Investment Fund, seeing what possibilities there are for a Bolivian public or private company to start manufacturing these immunizers,’ the official told Red Uno television station.

However, there is still no concrete agreement on the issue, only contacts are being made at the moment, he added.

The possibility of materializing this objective will depend on how long it takes to make a partnership or alliance with Gamaleya, the institution that developed the Sputnik V vaccine against the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, which causes the disease, he explained.

Some laboratories have even shown their interest to the Russian embassy, but there is a need to invest in technology, and there is the issue of human talent, he said.

There is a possibility that it could be trained in Russia, a state that makes transfers to developing nations, something that Bolivia is demanding of all pharmaceutical companies as part of an international campaign, he said.

The government is conducting a pilot test of mass Covid-19 vaccination here, after injecting mainly health personnel on the front line of the fight against the pandemic.
