According to an online poll made by Ultimas Noticias (UN) national daily, from Monday, May 24 to Friday, May 27, most participants from across the country answered that they intended to go to the polls.

Poll’s organizers claim it allows to have a preliminary vision of the likely turnout at the elections that could redefine Venezuela’s political map, by electing governors, mayors, regional deputies and councilpeople.

The poll also indicates that everything will depend on the ability of political organizations to convene voters amid a complex economic scenario, also marked by a long-lasting non-voting opposition campaign, which is now trying to gain space.

However, according to Ultimas Horas’ report, the news about the formation of a new National Electoral Council, with the inclusion of oppostion figures and a more balanced profile, revitalized political actors and voters’ expectations.

In this regard, it claims that over 70 percent of those who took part in the poll think that the new electoral authorities are encouraging a greater turnout, which, according to analysts, means an encouraging scenario in the face of the election.
