Nicaraguan FM expresses support to Cuban draft resolution at UN

Managua, Jun 17 (Prensa Latina) Nicaraguan Foreign Minister Denis Moncada on Thursday expressed his government's support to the draft resolution against the US blockade Cuba will submit at the UN General Assembly on June 23.

Humanity rejects and condemns the economic, commercial and financial blockade of the US Government against Cuba, because it violates the United Nations Charter, international law and the fundamental rights of Cubans, the foreign minister said.

That policy of economic suffocation represents the main obstacle for the development of its Cuban economy, the fulfillment of the 2030 Agenda and the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals, the diplomat added in a message he shared with Prensa Latina.

As a massive and systematic violation of the human rights of the entire Cuban people, the blockade is an inhumane and illegal practice, the head of Nicaraguan diplomacy said.

As every year, Nicaragua will vote in favor of the draft resolution Cuba will submit this month at the General Assembly, Moncada reiterated.
