The jury of the contest-workshop awarded a first mention to the work There comes my country, by the young Daniel Beguiristaín, and a mention To Mayum Falcón, whom he characterized as a new poetic promise for her poem Ordinances. They were part of the court José Manuel Espino, president of the branch of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (Uneac) in the western province of Matanzas, along with fellow writers Maylan Álvarez and Leymen Pérez.

The appointment was closed by a pilgrimage and the deposit of a floral offering in front of the statue of the Matanzas vate located in the Cathedral Square of this city, a few meters from the house where he lived in the 19th century and current Territorial Historical Archive.

The event has taken place since 1981 and during these four decades it has treasured works by prominent intellectuals, which are published by the Matanzas publishing house the year after the award.

Milanés (1814-1863) was a poet, playwright and essayist, a native of this city 100 kilometers east of Havana, and one of the main cultivators of romantic drama in the Spanish language.

Scholars of his work consider him the first Cuban poetic ingenuity, and almost all of his creation took place from 1835 to 1843, a period framed in the romanticism of Spanish literature.
