Brazilian Supreme Court extends investigation on Bolsonaro

Brasília, Nov 27 (Prensa Latina) A judge from Brazil's Supreme Federal Court (STF) has extended for 60 days the investigation against President Jair Bolsonaro for his alleged political interference in the Federal Police (PF).

Judge Alexandre de Moraes, from the STF, also requested the General Prosecutor’s Office the need for Bolsonaro’s statement in the case.

The investigation is based on accusations by former Justice Minister Sérgio Moro, who, when he announced his resignation from the post on April 24, accused the ultra-right-wing president of interfering in the PF by dismissing Mauricio Valeixo, then general director of the agency, and demanding a change in the command of the Superintendence in Rio de Janeiro.

The judge’s verdict emerged after Bolsonaro requested that De Moraes’ reports be sent to the PF to prepare a final report and communicate to the higher court that he will not testify in the case.

For the time being, a series of statements were taken and a video was made public of a ministerial meeting on April 22 in which de Moraes claimed that he was threatened by Bolsonaro with dismissal in the face of pressure for a change in the powerful police agency.
