US imposes sanctions against new Syrian entities

Damascus, Nov 10 (Prensa Latina) The US Treasury Department announced a new list of Syrian and Lebanese entities and individuals included in the sanctions in virtue of the so-called Caesar Act, media outlets released in Damascus on Tuesday.

The list includes the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources and the National Defense Forces, a paramilitary body that has played an important role in fighting terrorist groups.

Nine companies and specialized bodies in the production of medicines, oil refining and construction were also subjected to these unilateral coercive measures, the semi-official Al-Watan newspaper published.

According to data, US President Donald Trump signed on December 20, 2019, the Caesar Act, which has been implemented since July. It tightens the blockade and gives extraterritorial reach to the sanctions imposed on Syria.
