The official considered Mexico as the country in America that has made the greatest efforts in hospital restructuring, having increased by 375.6 percent the number of intensive care beds for patients of Covid-19, which added to the great social response has allowed to maintain health services without overflowing.

Morales made those statements at the Western Regional Meeting: Strengthening Organizational Response Capacity to Reduce Risks Associated with Pandemic Care, which brought health officials from six States together.

He said that it was not easy, mobility was reduced in almost all States to below 60 percent and it is thanks to that effort in a country where half of the population must go out to work to survive, the containment of the pandemic is no small thing.

According to information presented by PAHO/WHO, between March and July, Mexico went from 2,446 beds to 11,634, which has allowed an average occupation of 55 percent, also the best in the Americas.

The meeting is attended by Health Secretaries or representatives from Jalisco, Nayarit, Colima, Michoacan, Guanajuato, Queretaro and Mexico City.

The Health Secretary reported that more than eight months after the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic in Mexico, the infections confirmed this Thursday amount to 943,630, with 5,225 new cases in the last 24 hours.
